Asha has been a student of movement her whole life. She began dance and gymnastics at age two and the practice of yoga at age 12. Asha graduated from Wake Up Yoga's 250-hour Teacher Training in 2015 and has been teaching regularly ever since. She loves to bring flavors from her dance background into her classes and focuses on the movement and flow of the practice. Asha aims to leave her students feeling open, energized, and ready for whatever comes their way.
Where are you originally from and what brought you to Philadelphia?
I am originally from Louisville, Kentucky and moved to Philadelphia in 2013 to pursue and expand a career in performance art. I love the energy of the city here! Walking around on a nice day can be a great boost of positive energy.
How do you express your creativity?
Aside from teaching, I am a burlesque and sideshow performer! I specialize in modern/contemporary style hula hoop dance, but I always enjoy learning new skills. I love dance classes and challenging myself to learn new tricks via YouTube tutorials. I currently juggle, hula hoop, throw knives, and twist balloon animals!
Are you a cat or dog person?
Both! I have three cats and a small dog.
