Yoga is always a good idea, and during pregnancy the benefits and rewards grow exponentially. Expectant mothers learn breathing exercises to calm the mind and soothe the nervous system. The class offers stretching and strengthening postures that help release and tone the pelvic floor, allowing for an easier birth and enhanced post-natal healing. Pregnancy Yoga gives the mommy-to-be a precious opportunity to deepen her relationship with her baby physically, emotionally and spiritually. Women are empowered to face labour with courage and grace, as they learn to relax their minds and bodies, surrendering to the incredible power of giving birth. And the class offers pregnant women a sense of community as they travel their path to motherhood together, sharing their experiences of heightened emotions and sensitivities, and offering support.

After you deliver, Post-Partum/Mommy & Me becomes the class you look forward to each week: an opportunity to show off your baby, admire other newborns, and work hard at getting your body back into shape after pregnancy, labor and delivery. In a challenging and supportive environment, we will progressively build strength and stamina, empowering you to move through the divine adventure of motherhood with ease, agility and balance, as you reclaim your own body. We will include postures that can be practiced with your baby, as well as the very popular Baby Massage. This is a wonderful opportunity to come together with other moms in a class designed especially for you! You will experience the benefits and healing effects of the yoga postures beneficial to the post-partum period. More than a class for babies, it is one you can bring your baby to ... and realizing all you give, give yourself a chance to receive the benefits of a rewarding asana practice in a nurturing community.

Call Wake Up Yoga at 215.235.1228 or email alane@wakeupyoga.com if you have any questions. No need to pre-register for a class--you can begin your practice at any point.
