Our firm intention is to keep the cost below $2,000 (airfare to/from India not included). Once we have a committed number of registrants, we will be able to figure the cost. If you are interested, please let us know ASAP. We hope to have the itinerary and cost fully scheduled by February 6, and are asking for a $250 non-refundable deposit by February 20th. We will soon have a list of resources for flight planning/booking, as well as a list of necessary documentation and suggested precautions/inoculations.
If you have been secretly yearning to make a pilgrimage to India but felt thwarted by uncertainty, insecurity, or a feeling of total overwhelm, please know that you helped to manifest this possibility! We are so excited about the prospect of traveling with treasured students to yoga’s Motherland, and feel confident that this will be a life-affirming, self-transforming, Source-connecting journey. If you feel even the tiniest tug on your spirit to go, please do all you can to manifest this for yourself this year; you’ll never regret it!
Although the details are still being negotiated, our itinerary is pretty well set: We are asking participants to arrange their own flights to Trivandrum, India arriving in Kerala on Monday, September 8th(you’ll fly from the States on 9/6/08 and land in either Mumbai or Bangalore; there you will catch an commuter flight to Trivandrum). There we will spend 5 nights at an Ayurvedic Yoga and Retreat Center, practicing daily pranayama/asana/meditation, and have ample opportunity to relax on the beach, restore with Ayurvedic Treatments, and enjoy a few organized day trips. The Lonely Planet Travel Guide lists taking a Backwater Boat Trip in Kerala as one of the 10 things everyone should do before they die, and we will all be able to check that off our list!
On the 6th morning we will board an intra-India flight bound for Delhi, and continue on to Agra, home of the world-famous Taj Mahal., one of the 7 Wonders of the World. We will enjoy this breathtaking miracle of architecture and tribute to love in the afternoon, and hopefully witness the sunset’s dramatic colors on the façade. We will stay one night in Agra, and journey back to Delhi for some sightseeing and possible shopping in one of the world’s most metropolitan cities. We will most certainly visit the Memorial Shrine to Gandhi, and let ourselves be magnetically drawn to points of interest.
On the 15th we will venture to Rishikesh, a holy city on the Ganges River, and a breath-of-fresh air after the bustle of the city. In Rishikesh we will stay two nights in an Ashram, and on our last day there we will enjoy boating on the Ganges River, and camp out that evening by the river for what promises to be a profound evening of devotion and transformation.
On the 17th we will journey back to Delhi for one final night in India. Our plan is to stay in quite a nice hotel for a hot shower and good sleep to prepare for the journey home, flying out of Delhi on the 19th. This is surely a full two weeks, with ample opportunity to rest, practice, commune with Self, and see some of this fascinating country. Please contact Corina@WakeUpYoga.com, or Yoga@JillManning.com to ask specific questions and/or to register. If you believe you are interested and able to come, please let us know right away. Having an idea of the number of participants will help us in our planning and price negotiations. This trip will surely be an adventure, and requires advance planning. However, the opportunity to travel with teachers you know and love, and an organization you trust, with friends known and soon-to-be-known is truly too great to pass up. We are definitely going; we really hope you can come!
