About the Performers:
Daniel Johnson offers tabla, voice, energy vortex. Tabla playing and singing is an audible stream of spirit talk, a marriage of beauty and power. His grooves are the result of a spiritual search that brought him into the sublte pulsations of the heart -- the stirring of the blood inside, the music of the within.
Karttikeya bring keyboard alchemy and shanti vibes. Karttikeya plays acoustic and electronic drums and percussion in a wide variety of settings, including rock, jazz, country & blues, funk, fusion and kirtan, the "music of yoga." He also plays keyboard, and is a composer in many styles of music. After graduating from Berklee College of Music with a degree in Music Production and Engineering, Karttikeya changed course to live and study for many years at the ashram home of Satguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami. There, he deepened his studies of yoga and traditional Hindu culture and practice. ?

The music of The Red Hawk Fly is a confluence of rivers: of tradition, passion, training, personality, devotion, intention and contemporaneity. Our inspiration and inner direction draw deeply from the hauntingly beautiful, traditional chants and songs of India, known as kirtan and bhajan. These we merge with trance vibes, dance grooves and instrumental embellishment.
