Wake Up Yoga Links
Vipassana Meditation Center - There are many of these centers around the world. The one closest to Philadelphia is in Shelbourne, Mass. Here interested students can participate in a 10-day Silent Meditation Retreat under the guidance of S.N. Goenka. Participants learn the techniques of Anapana and Vipassana Meditation in a skillfully transmitted, progressive program. These retreats are freely given, subsisting solely on the contributions of those who have completed the course. By quieting the mind and diving beneath excessive stimulation, the practitioner has direct, visceral experience of the unconscious mind, the practice of which can lead to the end of suffering. If you feel even the tiniest pull toward this program, do not delay! The seed of enlightenment is planted within you and needs to be tended, nurtured and allowed to grow!
The Philadelphia Shambhala Center is a local place to sit, learn and practice meditation and to receive Buddhist instruction. Our meditation teacher, Michael Carroll, hails from this tradition and is among their skillfull and compassionate teachers.
