Thank You, Yoga!

Say Thank You to the practice of yoga, a specific teacher and/or Wake Up Yoga for giving you the many gifts and blessings this practice has given you in your life. Please send all thank yous to Alane@wakeupyoga.com

Thanks, Yoga!

I started practicing yoga when I was about 20 weeks into my first pregnancy. I had a very easy time during my early pregnancy - no horrible pains in my back or legs and no real nausea or discomfort- so I was skeptical about how much yoga would help me. Turns out, yoga was one of the best things I could have done to center and pamper myself during pregnancy and prepare me for childbirth amd motherhood. Through yoga, I became much more in tune with my body and how it was changing during pregnancy. I was able to enjoy the quiet moments in my yoga practice that I often didn't make for myself in my busy schedule so I could visualize this tiny life growing inside of me and connect with her. In yoga, I was able to talk to other pregnant women and share this unique journey with them - both our joys and fears. Most importantly, yoga helped me to prepare my body and deal with any fears or concerns of the childbirth process. In doing so, I was able to center myself and deal with the physical and emotional strains of a very long labor to have wonderful memories of the birth of my first child.

Thanks, Yoga!

I found yoga when I was in the midst of much sadness after the dissolution of a relationship. Through yoga, I was able to cultivate a space apart from the heaviness of sorrow and distractions. Now a part of my life, yoga is nurishing in both good times and in bad. The practice of focusing on breath, distancing myself from my thoughts, and moving my body has enabled me to become larger-to move beyond (or, at least, see beyond) my perceived limitations toward something beautiful, joyful, and vast. Yoga challenges me to continue on my path while restoring me, exactly as I am. I am so grateful for everything and everyone that led me to this practice!

Thanks, Yoga!

Wake Up Yoga attracts a certain, very special type of teacher. I can honestly say that I have enjoyed every teacher I have taken a class with. Thanks for using your time and energy to teach me, and wonderful job to all the teachers at WUY! In particular, Corina: you are so warmly welcoming and clear. You exude such a great energy. I really do look forward to your class each week, where you provide me with a safe space to study and learn about myself. You really do an amazing job making everyone feel welcome in your class. I find your sequencing and choice of postures to be very challenging, yet balanced: just what I need. My body and mind always thank me after your class. The language that you use is so poetic and exact. The number of "aha moments," and time when something "clicks" for me while practicing yoga with you is many. Teaching seems like it comes so naturally to you. I never stop learning from you, thank you so much for being you! Micki: So many times, you've helped me understand by explaining a posture in a very unique way. The "themes" for your classes are so informative to me. Thank you so much for teaching me! Jill B: You were my very first teacher in the brand new beginners series a few years ago. You had such a great sense of humor, and made yoga fun and accessible to everyone. Thanks for sparking the yoga fire within me, there's no keeping me away from my mat now!

Thanks, Yoga!

Yoga truly does encourage me to bend – physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Through the practice of yoga I feel how each bend affects aspects of my life: a newly pain-free neck, an event from the past released, feelings of contentment and connection deep inside from a protected yet radiant seed. Yoga has become a significant aspect of my life and I am immensely thankful for the community of Wake Up Yoga; our teachers; the cozy bright spaces where we practice; and the inspiration to see my inner self reflected in the world and visa versa.  Thank you so much to the teachers I have had the opportunity to learn from thus far: Corina, Kayla, Vanessa, Micki, Tina, and Jill – your guidance has brought great growth and stability to my life. Please know that your motivation and ability to teach is appreciated a million times over.
