About Our Studios

We are a Vinyasa (flow-style) and Yin (passive yoga) studio with two locations: the original, in the heart of the Fairmount neighborhood of Philadelphia, and our new studio in West Philadelphia. The space is warm and inviting, the walls are the color of butternut squash, the teachers are excellent and the community rocks!

Practicing yoga creates space in your body, mind and heart. It works to dissolve anxiety and stress by giving you a fresh perspective, and a chance to move your amazing body: balancing your endocrine system, boosting your immune system, enhancing circulation, flexibility, strength and endurance, and giving you the opportunity to breathe deeply. It opens you up to the possibility of really enjoying your life, and it just might make you even more fun to be around. Get out of your head, get into your body, and feel the breath animate as you flow through the practice. Allow the sun of your heart to rise into the blue-sky space of your mind, illuminating your inherent grace so that you shine with your own, unique brilliance.

And yoga is perfect for you wherever you are in your life. You needn't already be flexible or fit; you don't have to be a vegetarian or change your faith; you don't have to be different than you are to enjoy tremendous benefts by practicing yoga.

A typical class at Wake Up Yoga offers breath awareness, centering/meditation, well-sequenced and clearly explained asana (physical postures) and, of course, Savasana (final relaxation). Connect with the source as you chant OM, or simply feel the vibration of the seed sound dancing through your sweet self. Be an integral member of a lovely community of like-minded people as you unveil reality right before your very eyes.

The postures range from simple to quite challenging, and they run the gamut of asana possibilities, from inversions to backward bends, forward bends and arm balances, and much more. We give hands-on adjustments and cultivate a safe space in which to play within the postures.

At Wake Up Yoga, mindfulness and precision unite with movement and breath to create a juicy practice that is grounded, uplifting, informative and joyous.
