Marisa Campbell
When Marisa moved to Philadelphia she was in search of a new yoga home, and when a new friend at a potluck recommended Wake Up Yoga, she showed up for class the very next morning and never left. Two years later she completed the 250 hour Vinyasa yoga teacher training program under the skillful and compassionate guidance of Jill Manning and Corina Benner. She also completed Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training under the knowledgeable tutelage of Meredith Jacoby. For the past year she has been delighted to be a substitute yoga teacher, grateful for the chance to step out of the wings when needed and keep her teaching tools shiny. Her teaching invites students to explore and experiment, becoming students of their own particular bodies in the context of yoga. She works to bring attention to the breath as the inspiration for movement, supported by a sense of playfulness and a desire for students to develop compassion for themselves. Marisa’s study of anatomy has led her to understand the body as an integrated whole, and she seeks to highlight the connectedness of all movement in her teaching. She endeavors to infuse the light shared by traditional yogic texts, Sanskrit study, chanting, and poetry into her classes. In her life off the mat, Marisa lives in a cozy apartment in Germantown, where she cooks all manner of intricate vegetarian meals and teaches preschool. She is wildly delighted to join the Wake Up Yoga team of talented teachers.
